The Juruá fisheries region is defined as the upper part of the Juruá River above the mouth of Tarauacá River. Cruzeiro do Sul, Ipixuna, Eirunepé and Tarauacá each have one public fishing port.
The most important city is Cruzeiro do Sul, with 78,800 people, in Acre, Brazil, whereas the latter three cities each have fewer than 30,000 people. The Manaus fleet dominates fisheries in the Lower Juruá. Similar to the Purus region, fisheries in the Juruá region are limited by extremely low water levels. The main fishing port is at Cruzeiro do Sul, where 70% of total catches of 1,400 tons are sold.
