IRD Peru – Institut de recherche pour le développement
IRD arrived in Peru in 1967 at the request of the Commission for the Geological Map of the Geology and Mining Service which wanted to carry out a study on the Andes. In addition to the so-called Earth sciences, which always constituted an important part of the institute's research activities, other disciplines were developed over the past decades. In Peru, the IRD carries out its research and training programs in close collaboration with its counterparts: universities, public institutes, companies, French public institutes and international organizations present in Peru. IRD researchers and their counterparts contribute equally to science for the needs of populations.
