Brazilian public institution of higher education. It is the largest university in the state of Amazonas and one of the main ones in the North Region of Brazil. It is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the state of Amazonas, originating from the Universidad Libre de Manaus (Escola Universitária Livre de Manáos), founded on January 17, 1909.
