Amazonian Connectivity as an Interdependent System

The Amazon Basin is an integrated ecological, social, and economic system. The conservation of migratory species and river functionality requires a coordinated response among countries.

Adopting the Plan at COP15 represents a step toward regional governance of these systems.

Impact on the International Agenda

The adoption of the Regional Action Plan at COP15 will contribute to:

  • Turning commitments from Appendix II of CMS into concrete actions
  • Stronger cooperation for transboundary species
  • Mobilizing technical and financial resources
  • Integrating recommendations into public policies

Connected Rivers, a Shared Decision

The connectivity of the Amazon Basin requires regional cooperation, scientific evidence, and social participation to guide policies and investments.
