San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance-Peru (SDZWA-Perú)
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance - Peru (SDZWA-Peru) is a Peruvian non-profit organization whose main purpose is to promote and develop programs and projects for protecting and conserving the environment. It focuses, in particular, on the promotion and conduct of research on environmental and conservation science issues. SDZWA-Peru shares the principles, mission and vision of the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance in its worldwide efforts to “lead the fight against species extinction”. Since the beginning of our activities in Peru, we have been linked to the technical support of the National Service of Natural Areas Protected by the State (SERNANP) in the operations of the Cocha Cashu Biological Station, Manu National Park. From this important center of knowledge in tropical ecology, we continue to facilitate the frontier research that has characterized the station since 1969. At the same time, we are promoting the generation of scientific capacities at the national level and the formation of a citizenry based on respect for nature and the multicultural reality of Peru. Currently, we are conducting initiatives focused on key species of terrestrial systems and the coexistence between wildlife and humans.
